Ashton Memorial
The Grade 1 listed Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lancaster industrialist Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife, Jessy. It was designed by John Belcher and completed in 1909.
Around the dome are sculptures by Herbert Hampton representing Commerce, Science, Industry and Art. The interior of the dome has allegorical paintings of Commerce, Art and History by George Murray.
At around 150 feet tall, it dominates the Lancaster skyline. The first-floor outdoor viewing gallery provides superb views of the surrounding countryside and out across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland fells and mountains.

Lancaster Priory Church
The 15th Century Priory and Parish Church of Lancaster, standing by the Castle on the hill overlooking the city, is built on a priory site in 1094. The interior is mostly medieval but has 13 centuries of history, evident from traces of a Saxon church, such as the Saxon doorway with Anglican cross fragments, 14th Century choir stalls, superb tapestries, and King’s Own Memorial Chapel with historical regimental standards and battle honours.
The present building holds Viking ornaments, crusaders’ coffins and part of Jacobean ‘three-decker’ pulpit. The Memorial Chapel holds arguably the complete collection of Regimental Colours in the country.

Venus & Cupid Statue
The “Venus and Cupid” sculpture (subtitled “Love, The Most Beautiful Of Absolute Disasters”) sits on Morecambe promenade overlooking Morecambe Bay.
Designed by Shane A. Johnstone in 2005, the sculpture celebrates motherhood, unconditional love, loss and heartbreak. The statue was installed in 2005, and its theme resonated with the tragedy of the 24 Cocklers who had died in the Bay the previous year.

The Stone Jetty
